Fit Is the Whole Ball Game
A dive mask does not seal with straps — it seals with the skirt. The strap only holds the mask in position. That is why two masks in the same size can behave completely differently on the same face, and why fitting matters more than color, frame style or price when you buy.
The 30-Second Suction Test
• Push your hair away from your forehead, hold the mask to your face without using the strap.
• Breathe in gently through your nose and stop breathing.
• Let go of the mask with both hands and look down.
• A well-fitting mask stays on your face by suction until you breathe out.
If it drops immediately, the skirt is not your shape — try another model. Keep in mind that a mustache breaks the seal at the top lip, a common cause of slow leaks.
What the Skirt Is Made Of Matters
Food grade and liquid silicone skirts seal better and last longer than cheaper TPR or PVC skirts, which stiffen with age, UV and chlorine. Liquid silicone in particular stays soft in cold water and returns to shape after being packed hard in a luggage. For wholesale and rental programs, silicone also survives hundreds of wash cycles without turning yellow.
Straps, Buckles and Small Faces
A split or elastic strap keeps pressure even across the head, and quick-adjust buckles let swimmers tighten on the fly. Narrow faces, high nose bridges and children all call for dedicated skirt shapes — which is why factories like ours build several skirt molds rather than one universal size.
Wholesale Fit Programs
ZHONG JIAN manufactures dive masks in multiple skirt molds — from wide-fit adult frames to low-volume models and kids shapes — all with tempered glass and silicone options. Rental operators can order mixed size packs so every guest finds a seal. See the mask range or ask for a size mix quotation.
